The Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST) will be conducting a series of entrepreneurship development programmes for women with funds from the Department of Science and Technology (DST).
It has sanctioned three programmes, including women entrepreneurship, technology-based entrepreneurship, and faculty entrepreneurship. The structured, four-week Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme envisages empowering women science and technology graduates and diploma holders.
Under the six-week training programme technology-based EDP, the focus will be in areas such as leather, plastic, electronics and communication, instrumentation, sports goods, biotechnology, IT, computer hardware, food processing, biomedical equipment, glass and ceramics, herbs and medicinal plant processing, said S. Vincent, the council’s member secretary.
Participants will be provided insights into indigenous technologies developed by research and development institutions for commercial purposes.
The faculty EDP is a two-week programme designed to train professionals as resource persons in entrepreneurship to develop sustainable and environment-friendly agricultural practices. The faculty will be trained in biofertilizers and biopesticides.
The key stakeholders and experts for the programmes are industry and institutional experts who will offer hands-on knowledge of biofertilisers and biopesticides. Experts from the MSME Development Institute will provide insights into entrepreneurship and small business development and faculties from eminent management institutes and business schools will contribute to entrepreneurial education and business strategy.
Other resource persons include intellectual property experts from IP offices and firms who can guide participants in protecting their innovations; soft skill trainers to enhance communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills; experts from financial institutions to offer knowledge on funding opportunities, financial planning, and business growth.
A total of 110 participants will undergo the training, Mr. Vincent said.
