Preparations are in full swing for the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] district conference in Kanhangad, scheduled from February 5 to 7, 2025, as part of the 23rd Party Congress, said Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] district secretary M.V. Balakrishnan.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Balakrishnan outlined the programme, which will feature prominent leaders, including State and Central committee members. The event will culminate on February 7 with a rally, a Red Army march, and a public meeting expected to attract over 50,000 attendees. Polit bureau member A. Vijayaraghavan will inaugurate the district representative conference, joined by leaders such as E.P. Jayarajan, P.K. Sreemathy, and P.P. Ramakrishnan.

He said the conference follows the successful completion of 1,959 branch conferences, 143 local conferences, and 12 area conferences in the district. Highlighting the CPI(M)‘s achievements, Mr. Balakrishnan noted the success of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) in recent elections, including regaining control of the district panchayat and achieving broader representation in local bodies, except for Kumbadaje.

As part of the preparations, Flag Day will be observed on January 15, with flags hoisted at party offices and houses on January 13. The conference will feature historical commemorations, district-level seminars, arts and sports competitions, and thematic discussions on topics such as gender justice, the knowledge economy, and communalism.

Other events include a district-wide waste management drive on January 25 and 26, public clean-ups, and an exhibition on history starting January 7. The conference is set to energise party workers and highlight ongoing mass struggles against anti-people policies, labour issues, and communal challenges.
