Mysuru-based theatre group Nirdiganta will present a Kannada play, Tindige Banda Tunderaya, in Belagavi on December 20.
The play is a Kannada adaptation of Bertolt Brecht’s play, The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui.
The performance will be held at the Kannada Bhavan Theatre, behind Ramdev Hotel, at 7 p.m.
The play, in North Karnataka dialect, is directed by Shakeel Ahmed.
The original play is considered a depiction of the growth of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party in Germany before World War II.
All the characters of the play are based on real events that took place in the history of Nazi Germany.
The Kannada play is based on mobster Tunderaya who becomes powerful after a life of petty crimes and extortion. He joins politics and begins eliminating his enemies to gain monopoly over food.
It is organised in Belagavi by Vinuta Shreya Prakashan, Kannada Bhavan and Bandaya Sahitya Sangathane. Nirdiganta is a mentoring centre for theatre artists, founded by actor Prakash Raj.
