Kamalamma and tauba tauba

Myself Kamalamma from Kunjibettu, in Udupi.

What to tell you …

Today morning, I am watching news reports on TV to see if the Ambani maha maduve is finished and all international guests have gone back. Then I am asking the Mister what about those Karibevu sisters, whether they are able to climb out of their lehenga and choli and climb into plane and the Mister’s face is like one big question mark and he is saying, which sisters? Then he is seeing the light like the Buddha under the Bodhisatva tree and he is saying, ohoho, Kamalamma you are putting too much karipatha into our upma today, maybe? It is Karadarshian sisters, not karipatha or karibevu and I am saying aiyyo … so much complicating name I am biting my tongue trying to say it.

Anyway, it seems all our national and international stars are taking their fat pay cheques and going back home and now we people in India can turn our attention to other important issues, like the new song which is trending on social media. The Mister is opening his mobile and showing me the song and our handsome Vicky Kaushal anna is coming on screen and shaking his head and hands and legs and saying tauba, tauba … tauba, tauba. It is very nice catchy song and even if I am not understanding rest of lyrics, at least one word I am able to catch, why, because he is saying it so many times. Yebbe! At first, I am thinking maybe, like our old gramophone player, record is stuck in 1st gear and song is not going forward from tauba tauba!

It is little bit like when the Mister and I are fighting, and we are facing one another like WWF wrestlers and exchanging insults. After we are finished with ourselves we are dragging names of each other’s ajja, ajji, chikkappa, chikkamma, cook, maid, dog and all and finally we are not having anything else to say, but we do not want to be 1st one to give up, so the Mister is saying aiyyo devare, and then I am also saying aiyyo devare, then he is saying aiyyo devare two more times and I am also saying +2 and it is going on like this until our battery is going down and we are sitting down in our favourite armchairs to recharge.

Same to same, maybe song writer is not having any more words to add and he is asking music director what to do and that fellow is saying no problem, add a few more taubas here and there. And this is how whole country is now singing and dancing to tauba tauba morning, noon and night. Including Kamalamma!

Then I am sitting and listening to song carefully and what to tell you – they are saying same word 72 times. In one song. The Mister is saying what Kamalamma, you are doing PhD on Tauba tauba or what? I am asking him also to cross check the figures and he is saying, aiyyo devare, as if I don’t have better work to do and I am saying what work you have, you are retired no, and paapa fellow is sitting with pen and paper and confirming my calculations.

Ohohoho …like this, whole nation is chanting tauba, tauba … 72 times in one song itself! Then, I am quickly doing some more calculations and telling the Mister, all are chanting it so many times anyway, if they chant it just few more times … all will get direct moksha. 100%!
Then it is not Bad Newz but good news, no!
