Amity University Uttar Pradesh celebrated its 20th Convocation at its Noida campus, honouring over 18,000 students from diverse disciplines, including Management, Engineering, Law, Psychology, Fine Arts, and Fashion Technology. The grand event for the Class of 2024 included the conferment of degrees, diplomas, certificates, and prestigious awards in recognition of academic and extracurricular excellence.
The university awarded Honorary Doctorates to Dr Ajit Kumar Mohanty, Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission and Secretary to the Government of India, and Dr Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd. Additionally, Dr Sanjay Sachdeva, Vice Chairman of ENT at Max Healthcare, was bestowed with an Honorary Professorship for his significant contributions to healthcare and education.
Dr Ajit Kumar Mohanty, in his address, emphasised the lifelong journey of learning and urged graduates to embrace challenges and innovation. “This convocation is not the end of your journey but the beginning of a new chapter. The real world awaits your brilliance, and you are ready to make your mark. Today is a celebration of your hard work; therefore, you must express gratitude to your families and parents, spend quality time with them, and never forget their sacrifices,” he remarked. He also highlighted the critical role of the Department of Atomic Energy in advancing national security and sustainability.
Dr Sangita Reddy inspired students to channel their education toward global transformation. She highlighted India’s growing prominence in technology and healthcare, stating, “Today, India is witnessing huge advancements in every field. India will become a chip manufacturing hub of the world, and doctors are working on making the world disease-free. Therefore, there are many opportunities for students to apply their knowledge and skills for the benefit of society.”
Dr Sanjay Sachdeva, upon accepting the Honorary Professorship, expressed gratitude for the recognition and stressed the importance of blending ancient wisdom with modern knowledge.
178 Baljit Shastri Awards Given, 423 PhDs Awarded
The ceremony also celebrated exceptional accomplishments, presenting 178 Baljit Shastri Awards for “Best Human and Traditional Values”, 15 Corporate Awards, and 19 Best All-Rounder Trophies. Additionally, 423 PhDs, 892 Academic Medals, and other awards were conferred.
Dr Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder-President of the Amity Education Group, emphasised the importance of human values alongside academic rigour. He shared the university’s guiding mantra, BHAAG — Behavioural Science, Human Values, Attitude, Ambition, and God — as a formula for lifelong success.
Dr Atul Chauhan, Chancellor of Amity University, celebrated the graduates’ achievements and reminded them of their responsibility to contribute to society. “Amity has 7,00,000 alumni worldwide, all of whom embody the values instilled during their time at Amity. The knowledge, skills, and values imparted here are the foundation upon which you will build your future,” he said.
Dr Balvinder Shukla, Vice-Chancellor of Amity University, highlighted the institution’s accomplishments, including over 25,000 research papers published by faculty in Scopus-indexed journals, 2,200 patents filed, 405 patents granted, and 35 technology transfers. She encouraged graduates to leverage their knowledge to drive global progress.
The convocation witnessed participation from the university’s senior management, faculty, students, and proud parents.
