Microsoft Copilot+ AI Features Won’t Be Limited To Just Qualcomm Powered Devices, Will Roll Out To Intel & AMD Laptops
3 months ago |

Microsoft has announced that its new AI features for Windows will begin rolling out to Intel and AMD notebooks starting in November. Previously, the Copilot Plus was only available on Qualcomm-powered devices, but it will now be accessible on a broader range of laptops. These features include Auto Super Resolution, a DLSS alternative, Live Captions with speech translation, Windows Studio Effects, Cocreator, and more.

Devices equipped with the latest Intel Core Ultra 200V and AMD Ryzen AI chips, running the most up-to-date version of Windows, will receive the Copilot Plus PC features through a free update.

Copilot Plus Delayed?

Microsoft plans to introduce these AI features gradually, with some being made available to all devices, while others will first be tested through the Windows Insider program before reaching a larger audience. Additionally, the company is working on releasing the delayed Recall AI features to Copilot Plus PCs, following a postponement due to security concerns.

The feature tracks your activity on the computer to deliver more accurate responses. However, concerns arose about the extent of its data collection, leading Microsoft to delay its original July launch. The company now plans to release it to Windows Insider testers in October before a wider rollout to Copilot Plus PCs.

In the meantime, Windows laptops powered by AMD’s Ryzen AI 300 series, such as the Asus ZenBook 16, HP OmniBook Ultra 14, and Asus TUF A14, are already available for purchase. Intel and its partners are also set to launch laptops featuring the Core Ultra 200V/Series 2 processors in the coming weeks.

The Intel Core Ultra 200V series (Core Ultra Series 2) is said to offer up to 50 per cent greater power efficiency compared to last year’s Core Ultra Series 1 (Meteor Lake).

Laptops equipped with the new Intel Core Ultra 200V series CPUs will also support connections to up to three 4K monitors, with the integrated Arc GPU capable of delivering up to 67 trillion operations per second (TOPS). Intel states that the Core Ultra Series 2 chips provide a total of 120 TOPS, distributed across the CPU (5 TOPS), GPU (48 TOPS), and NPU (67 TOPS).
